Villas at Alibagh
The Alibagh villas were envisioned as part of a luxury gated community of holiday homes set within a striking coastal landscape. Located on a site of gentle green slopes descending toward the sea, the project responded to the client’s vision of creating a quiet, restorative retreat where families could step away from the density and pace of Mumbai.
Alibagh is a coastal town, south of Mumbai, filled with beautiful beaches and greenery. The site is one such beautiful slice of gentle slopes leading into the ocean. The spectacular natural landscape provided the perfect backdrop to insert the villas into, the challenge was to do so with the least possible disturbance.
Instead of imposing a singular solution across the site, the design developed two villa variations tailored to two different ranges of slopes. This allowed the architecture to adapt more carefully to the topography, reducing the need for excessive cutting, filling or disruption of the natural contours.
