Hermes 1
Created for Hermès’ 2021 Theme of the Year, An Odyssey, the window display reimagined the idea of journeying as a fantastical voyage beneath the sea. Titled A Journey Down Under, the concept transformed the storefront into an underwater world filled with wonder, movement and narrative, inviting passersby into a surreal expedition through the ocean’s depths.
The windows were composed as richly layered scenes populated by marine life and crafted details. Jellyfish cut from fiberglass floated through the space like luminous sculptural forms, while the tentacles of octopi were delicately hand embroidered onto organza, bringing softness, tactility and a sense of artisanal care to the installation. These elements came together to create an environment that felt playful yet refined, aligning with Hermès’ ability to balance whimsy with craftsmanship.
An iconic yellow submarine, referencing The Beatles’ classic, added a cultural and narrative anchor to the composition, making the display feel both familiar and dreamlike.
